WVUE-8 reported Sunday night that New Orleans Saints owner Tom Benson and Coach Sean Payton were spotted in Manhattan over the weekend, raising speculation the pair may be in New York to meet with NFL officials regarding the alleged "pay for performance" scheme the league says New Orleans employed from 2009 to 2011.

It's getting ready to start raining really really hard. We may need a beach umbrella and galoshes.

I like that Benson and Payton requested this meeting. Everything Goodell has he got from a bitter former employee of the organization. Let the Saints organization tell their side of the story before any punishment is handed down.

There is actually a HUGE difference between requesting a meeting with the commish, and being ordered to come to New York like Gregg Williams was.

I agree with you Bro. Listening to Schefter talk on ESPN today you would of thought we were called to the commissioners office. Of course ESPN would say that because that makes for a more interesting story. Obviously Schefter hasn't come back on and said that we requested the meeting, that would mean he couldn't throw us under the bus again. I know a lot of people have been irritated by certain writers and reporters over the last week (Florio, King, Bayless, etc.), but for me Schefter has been the most annoying. Every time he talks about the Saints there's a certain pleasure in his voice you can hear when he talks about the punishment we're going to get. His arrogance and smugness on this situation has really changed the way I view him as a reporter.
