Bucs and Eagles pushing "hard" for Carl Nicks
Jason La Canfora @JasonLaCanfora
Bucs and Eagles pushing to get Carl Nicks in their building first. Tampa lookin to use some of that big cap space quickly it seems! I know La Canfora has been wrong many times. Just thought I would post anyway. |
He likes to think he has the inside track on these things but more often than not he is wrong.
|
He's wrong ...
Mike Triplett @TripTP RT @geoffmosher: League source says Eagles are NOT in hunt for Carl Nicks, report untrue. :whatever: |
Dear CAA,
I will leak whatever BS you want printed. Love, JLC |
OK so we didn't get it done with the offer we made.Bummer!Well go test the waters CARL,but just know that you have a better QB to take care of here in New Orleans than you'll find anywhere!Carl don't be a loser.
I'm listening to NFL Net right now and have heard Carl Nicks name ten times in 5mins(slight exaggeration). This isn't good but there's still hope right? As long as he don't end up in @lanta I guess...:brood: |
According to NFL Network's Jason LaCanfora, the Bucs and Eagles are vying for the first visit from free agent OG Carl Nicks.
The Bucs are aggressively pursuing Nicks, Vincent Jackson, and MLB Curtis Lofton. If they manage to land the mauler Nicks, they will enter the 2012 season with one of the premier offensive lines in the league. Two Eagles beat writers dispute the report that the Eagles are interested. Carl Nicks - New Orleans Saints - 2012 Player Profile - Rotoworld.com |
If he leaves then I want him in the same division.
|
They might be calling his agent but that means nothing nicks might wanna see how close the saints offer is too anyone else before he sign a saints deal

NFL News and Notes @NFLNewsandNotes
#Buccaneers are close to a contract agreement with G Carl Nicks Don't know how reliable this twitter account is but if it's true it looks like Nicks is unfortunately very close to being a Buc. |

I wonder if he'd give us an opportunity to counter...not that we could afford to...
|
It's a no loose situation IMO,if he stays great. He is the best Guard around but if he wants to follow the money then good luck to him,it just gives us more cap space to spend on the defence.

Still though, Nicks has done so well, it'll be difficult to mimic his productivity. |

Saints are bring in OG Ben Grubbs out of Baltimore for a visit.
|
Thanks for the info, would he be a good replacement?

Thanks,I have been watching casually for a few years and I'm trying to pick up the rest of the positions now.
|
If it comes down to a bidding war we have no chance against TB. Nicks said on twitter that the Saints made him a respectable offer, that's all we can do. TB has to spend their money soon so they will probably overpay for Nicks and Vincent Jackson. If we don't sign Nicks there are cheaper alternatives out there and we can use the rest of the money to improve the defense.
|
I wonder what kind of contract Grubbs would require moneywise.

Grubbs just came off a 5 year/$8M contract, so he'll likely want a hefty pay raise, but nothing like Nicks is sure to get.
Around $6M/year is my guess. |
gubbs is a solid addition. plus would leave us some pocket change left over. i still want nicks back. i got a gut feeling OG situation is holding up drew's deal
|
Eagles not pursuing Carl Nicks
Sounds like the Eagles aren't willing to pay that much for Nicks either....

Tampa might be his first and final visit, and with the money they have to spend, it wouldn't really be a surprise.
|
Nicks isn't listed as a target by Iggles
|
Quote:
|
Well, if he goes to Tampa at least his QB is last in our division....depending upon how you look at Cam Newton.
|
Nicks is probably chomping at the bit to play our D twice a year...

While I think Grubbs would be a really good person to pick up into Nicks' place, I HATE that if he goes he will end up in Tampa Bay...ANYWHERE BUT IN OUR DIVISION!!!

Well, the Bengals are really the only other team with as much cap space to spend as the Bucks and they need to improve their O-line, which is why I'm surprised that we haven't heard anything about their interest towards Nicks. |
