this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I do too, Rocky. Business as usual. Sign players we need; "Drew, there's the contract". Keep doing what you are doing Micky!...

This is a sad, annoying subject for me. Watching Bobby Hebert hold out years ago because the Saints wanted to give him a "hometown discount" I could understand that one. But Brees has no excuse here as we've offered him the most we've ever offered a player (or almost anyone else in the NFL has been offered).
Drew needs to get that front-loading of the contract crap out of his head. If he plays 2 or 3 years on the current contract and gets injured, he'll have more than enough to retire on. Come on Drew, be reasonable. |

Thank you HALO.
That is the thing that just drives me crazy about this deal. If we were offering him Kyle Orton Money, I could see his displeasure with the FO. But man, they have thrown a lot of money at him. I may get bashed for this, but I'm going to say it anyways: Drew, Sean Payton made you great. In all aspects of your game (with the help from Mickey), other than throwing the ball for you. I love you dude. But you're killin me. You're goshdarn KILLIN ME! |

I hope they don't look at the crazy deal Detroit just gave Calvin Johnson...7 yrs/132 M for a receiver?!?!? Im sooo glad we got the Colston deal done too. I have faith that Loomis will make Brees happy!

Now let's say I offered you $135 million five year deal with $15 million the first year, $20 million the second year, $25 million the third year, $35 million the fourth year and $50 million in year five.
How does that sound to you? Biggest deal in the NFL, right? But, here is the catch ... years four and five are not guaranteed. If you get injured or retire you get nothing. |
