One thing that Loomis has been consistently great at with the Saints is structuring contracts in a creative way as to not take up a ton of cap room.

We get Younger and more stout at the linebacker positions this team gon be hard to deal with Lofton and Hawthorne for me.

can we afford signing 2 LBs? Even if we release Vilma we gotta be getting close to the cap and we still have Drew long term to worry about?

Restructure Ellis' contract, if he's unwilling, give him the boot. The rest should probably just go. As much as I love vilma and all he's done for us, it just doesn't look like its in the cards for him to stay. Unless he gets away without a lengthy suspension and is willing to restructure as well. Seems clear they wanna get younger at lb though and I don't see him being cool with a diminished role here when some other team will probably be willing to overpay for his services and give him a starting gig.. as for shanle, I've been in his corner since he got here. I respect his tenacity and that he has given us his all, but if the ol tank wasn't already running low, surely it is by now. As I've said before though I'd like to see him stick around in some sort of coaching role.. herring was a disappointment, get rid of him, nuff said.
