I just checked in with free agent New Orleans Saints linebacker Jo-Lonn Dunbar, who said he has received interest from a "few teams" but hasn't made any decisions yet. Dunbar said the Saints are "absolutely" still in the mix.
"I've got a few teams interested, but I'm still trying to figure out my best option," said Dunbar, who said he may make his first visit early next week but didn't specify where. Full article. I'm beginning to think more and more that Dunbar simply doesn't fit into what Spags is looking for in a MLB and that is why he might be playing elsewhere next season.
Don't get me wrong, even though I haven't jumped on the wagon with many of you guys who've been really high on Dunbar, I'd still like to see him being re-signed by the Saints. But, only if he truly fits the schemes, if he comes cheap, and if he is a depth guy - not a day-1 starter. Also, I'm really hopeful that Jeremiha Hunter will emerge as at least a 2nd tier WLB in the camps - maybe Spags could even groom him to be a future MLB 'cos his college career seems to suggest that he is not only a solid tackler/run stopper, but also above average in pass coverage. |

He's going to draw a fair amount of interest after last season. He earned a pay increase.

I think Jo Lon did enough last year. He did step up when needed. I'd to see him stay. Hope he does.

Vet minimum, he's a great back-up MLB and a solid special teamer.
I hope we keep him. |

Dunbar was damn good last season. I don't care if he fits Spagnuolo's scheme... How about Spag's adjusts his scheme for a player that replaced our best linebacker last season with no obvious drop-off.
