Even though Will Smith resturctured his contract....

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Would it be a good idea to bring in a more "elite" pass rusher? I was looking at John Abraham and though he is getting older, his production is still in that elite class. I am a Will Smith fan, ...

You mean john abraham of the falcons?

He's still a good player, would love to get a dominant pass rusher but I don't see many options for us at the minute

I'm kinda putting my hopes on Spags teaching our young DE's and them turning into studs seen as he's got a great track record with underperforming DE's.

I think Jordan is so raw that Spags will turn him into the monster that everyone expects.. We saw flashes last year, and now that he has a coordinator that loves pressure from the line, he should shine!!

Abraham has always been in the back of my mind as a player that would fit well in a Black and Gold uniform.

And... I would love to strip ATL of their two best defensive producers in Abraham and Lofton.

We'll be OK with Jordan, Galette, Romeus, Smith, and even McBride if he returns to 2010 form and probably a draft pick.

I'm more concerned with our DT's.

We have Ellis and Johnson and no one else under contract. Yikes!

I have read that the Broncos are interested in Abraham, and the falcAints may decide to re-sign him.

I am sure he would like to come to a team that the defense wouldn't have to worry about scoring all the points in a playoff game!

Only problem with DT this year is there are no solid options out there... I don't see any FA's or any that really stick out in the draft (at least where we have picks available)

No to Abraham from me.

The only pass rusher who still remains in the FA market, would provide improvements to the pass rush, and would interest me is Jason Jones from the Titans, who can line up both as a DT and a DE.

But he'd have to be willing to take less money to join the Saints, which I'm pretty sure he would not be.

Are you serious?

This year's DT class is really really really good, and there are so many good rookies that some of those potentially great future DTs will undoubtedly drop down to the later rounds.

Mark my words, there'll be some very good/great future DTs coming out from this year's draft, who aren't necessarily picked in the first 3 rounds.

Yes! That's what I'm hoping for.
