Six years into their marriage to an elite NFL quarterback, the Saints are discovering what life is like in NFL bourgeois society. Success brings excess, and life grows more complicated.
The one downside to having a superstar in his prime in modern professional sports is that it is really, really expensive. Much like dating a supermodel or owning a Jaguar, problems exist. Good problems to have undoubtedly, but problems nonetheless. Before Drew Brees came along, no one ever worried about a contract holdout for, say, the Billy Joes or Steve Walsh. Heck, most Saints fans would have donated discretionary dollars to encourage Aaron Brooks to not report to camp in his last couple of seasons. Full article. Everyone makes it sound like the Saints don't have the money, or don't want to spend the money on Drew...It's a cap issue, why don't people understand that?

i guess maybe because they are beefing up other areas (spending money elsewhere) and not concentrating on Drew. I believe the deal will get done WHEN they have the rest of the pieces in place and have a more exact figure to offer. i have faith in Loomis and staff...the deal WILL get done when its time. Most ppl worry that the "time" has already come and gone, so they freak out and say "Drew is guna leave"! That won't happen, the organization knows what that will do to the team and the Who Dat Nation. They'll get him signed!

Take a page from the Colts when they had all that money tied up in their big three (Manning, Harrison and James)...
The Colts even gave James a ring for the money they were able to use to add more supporting cast to Manning as they won their only Superbowl... Manning should have won more Superbowls - but the Salary cap, which is a good thing, was eaten up by the large salaries in only a few players... |

Try reading Drew's OWN comments... Its not all about the money... Its about the loading of the money.
The man has already spoken on this and I have no reason to doubt his sincerity... People speculate about greed.... cap....highest paid.... Stop guessing and listen to the man. |
