this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; This is one of those mental moves , Kenny Smith will start Sunday against the browns and will replace a rather recently ineffective Norman Hand . Rather interesting switch , Martin Chase has been the reserve so far this season ...

It still seems rather strange that Haslett is picking on hand , who usually draws the double team , yet does not add an pressure by sending a linebacker or two after the quarterback . These linebackers are the weak link in my mind and other team members have had to play outside their position to support them . Have seen recent criticism of Knight as well , but no mention of the corners well out of position or falling down . |

I think the switch to Kenny Smith is more about rushing the passer than anything. Smith has shown a little rushing skill this season. He is quick off of the line and seems to get around the ball and make some plays. How much will it affect the run stuffing in the middle remains to be seen. Anybody that says anything bad about Knight needs to look and see that he has made plays in every game. He does make a few mistakes but his big plays offset them every game. Sammy is a gamer.

We have obviously been unable to stop the run. I am in favor of trying or doing whatever it takes to stop the run. One thing I have noticed,as like the Saints of old, when we bring pressure we do quite well. I think we need to bring it more.
