Turds coming out the woodwork. Take comfort knowing your team still sucks trolls.

NOLA54 03-21-2012 02:18 PM

We may have had our chops busted & our nose is bloodied but this prize fighter is not down for the count.

Sean's suspension starts april 1 and he is already tutoring Carmichael. This team will have a chip on their shoulder this season & be playing for their coach. I look for good things out of this challange.

Brandon428 03-21-2012 02:58 PM

Just for the record, canceling Sunday Ticket will not hurt the NFL it will hurt Directv. Directv pays the NFL ahead of time ( a lot of money!) for the rights to broadcast all the regular season games. The Saints organization needs to APPEAL! We need to take legal action and sue the NFL for these absurd penalties.

iceshack149 03-21-2012 02:59 PM

I hope that Payton buys a bunch of Tracfone's.:bng:

Saints_Forev 03-21-2012 03:01 PM

theres no way spygate is as serious as this is. Nobody's ankles got hurt and nobody got carted off the field from spygate. I understand it if u accidentally injure someone, but intentionally trying to adversely affect someone's career like this should definitely be a no-no. Im glad this is guna be something in the past and not be a part of what we are in the future.

Indeed, anyone who thinks Sean will abide by this is crazy. If I were in the league office I would put a tracking anklet on him and have him followed by a PI for the entire year. Of course, they won't do that, so look for him to be on some CIA **** all year long trying to run the team.

9er fans have arrived.

Somebody bust out the Bengal Roach spray!

Brandon428 03-21-2012 03:10 PM

Does Sean’s 8M this year give us more money for FA?

I don't see this happening! The suspension bars all contact with the team for a league year, April 1st until April 1st. No way Payton will risk his career and/or further penalties to our organization...

He gets caught and he is at the unemployment office with Gregg Williams(sarcasm)

Brandon428 03-21-2012 03:17 PM

Also,I say this season we hit even harder but just don’t offer any money for the hits.

It may not hurt the NFL but if enough people do it it will send the message. And yes, the Saints should take any and every legal action they are allowed to take by law...and I"m not even sure they can, but if they can they sure as hell better.

I was wondering about Gruden, can we bring someone in for a year?

Coaches money has nothing to do with cap money.

hitta 03-21-2012 03:22 PM

This is the most blatantly biased **** I've ever seen. Goodell sent a letter out to other teams warning them not to do this again? WTH?!?!?!? Where is their 3 year investigation into other teams? We get our coach taken away for the entire season and everyone else is free and clear?

Even after he said he was already investigating them...

To be honest, I thought we were going to get "Ricky Williams'd" on this (I.e. lose our entire draft). In my mind, the worst thing that can happen is losing players and draft picks. We end up losing two second-round picks, which sucks, but I can live with it.

Losing our coach and GM would hurt if it was permanent, but it's one year. They say a good coach can help a team win one, maybe two games based on play-calling and clock management. The players on the field are the ones who have the biggest impact, and last I checked we still have the baddest offense ever to roam the NFL. We have other guys who can call plays as evidenced when Payton got hurt last season.

This is obviously a harsh penalty, but suspending our coach and GM isn't as bad as taking away our entire draft IMO. That would have made me freak out. Losing the future backbone of the franchise hurts worse than having your coach suspended for a year. The players make the plays.

Two good things come from this:

1. We will have the biggest chip on our shoulder in franchise history.
2. All bandwagon fans are gone. If you were borderline, you're rooting for the Cowboys or Packers about now. Now we will see who the real Who Dats are...

I like this! My seat just got a lot less crowded... :bng:

hitta 03-21-2012 03:30 PM

Sean Payton should coach via radio. Carmichael should have an invisible chip in his ear.

mikesaintfan 03-21-2012 03:31 PM

DREW BETTER GET HIS ARSE ON BOARD...he needs to get that long term deal done NOW!!!!!!!!!!

onebyone 03-21-2012 03:33 PM

When this broke at work, I felt like someone had just come up out of nowhere and punched me in the face. This hurts.

I am a straight up pessimist and envision the worst possible scenario, but in my worst nightmares I never ever could've come up with this. It's outlandishly ridiculous we go down like this to serve as an example to others.

Vilma must be biting his nails right now.

No matter what, WHO DAT? I stand by my team always, now more than ever.

Boutte 03-21-2012 03:34 PM

The sky really is falling.

mikesaintfan 03-21-2012 03:34 PM

i think we can survive this...Spags being here helps alot as well as PC having the experience from last year when SP was hurt...but Drew needs to step up and Benson needs to pay him...NOW!!

jegirouard 03-21-2012 03:45 PM

This is a big deal

claus808 03-21-2012 04:15 PM

Hard to say we will survive this after this strict of a punishment and the punishment's aren't over yet.
Half our defense may be gone for some or all the games.
I'm expecting the worst at this point, no reason why anyone else shouldn't after what has happened today

|Mitch| 03-21-2012 04:17 PM

At this point we can overcome what has happened so far and have a productive season.

Depending on how Goodell handles the players, this is where he can ruin our season...

neugey 03-21-2012 04:44 PM

At least the players can appeal their suspensions through the NFLPA. And will probably appeal together or in large groups.

So the suspensions might not be too heavy, and hopefully they can/should be staggered ... but still how do you handle having on the order of 3-10 players suspended for your game? With only a 53-man roster? When your GM is also suspended?!

Crusader 03-21-2012 05:14 PM

I got a new Room mate today that played for GW with the Redskins (he's playing for my team this year). We of course talked a lot about this whole ordeal and he said something along these lines:
"There were a performance system in place where you got rewarded for sacks, INTs, strips and so forth, there also was a fine system in place for missed tackles, mental errors, dropped passes and such, the two usually evened out. Never were there anybody, player or coach, that was talking about intentionally injuring an opponent, that just doesn't happen."

SaintFanQ 03-21-2012 05:24 PM

How does the SP 1 year ban work?

Is he allowed to do "anything" with the team at all?

As ludicrous as this may sound, could he be watching the Saints playing on tv and phone in the plays to someone?

Negative! He can not have any contact with the team including coaches until April 1st of next year...

SaintFanQ 03-21-2012 05:28 PM

Wow! That's terrible! Guess they will monitor his phone line and emails etc. then! :(

thats what I told everyone at work, ...I said good, now the bandwagoners will jump off, I can have my saints back. We sucked prior to 06, and if it happens again at least I know what being a saints fan is about..and Im still here

SaintFanQ 03-21-2012 05:36 PM

Well I just look at this as only being another chapter in the roller coaster ride that is all part of being a Saints fan!

I will ALWAYS support the Saints, whatever happens now or in the future!

GEAUX SAINTS!!!!!!!!

FinSaint 03-21-2012 05:50 PM

This does not affect in any way my support of the Saints - if anything, this has made it ever stronger. :bng:

SaintFanQ 03-21-2012 05:55 PM

Well said FinSaint!!!!!!!!!! :)

B_Dub_Saint 03-21-2012 09:20 PM

We have all been through tough times before. I dont think as bad as this but as long as Brees is in the locker room I have faith in this team.

We have been picked on unfairly.

I don't know if I could like my Saints any more than I already do, but this certainly may make me more vocal about it.

It reminds me of the NCAA's extreme punishment of Alabama several years ago for doing the exact same things other schools did who got punished much less severely.

To all the LSU/Saints fans who cheered the extreme Bama punishments then, you now know exactly how it feels.

Kumatage 03-21-2012 10:22 PM

Regardless of what happens, the reality is this: we're still going to give it to ATL, TB, and CAR.

SanDiego49er 03-22-2012 02:16 AM

You guys got whacked pretty hard. Figured it would be bad. Didn't know it would be this bad. Want more bad news? They are still figuring out which players to suspend and for how long. That's additional penalties on top of what you have now.

|Mitch| 03-22-2012 02:18 AM

yeah we know we still have the players penalties to go... We as a team will get through it some way or another
