What's the big deal? So Payton won't be coaching this season. We still have the team to beat.

What's the big deal? Are you serious? This is unwarranted. Period. This isn't about the integrity of the game. This is about a looming court case. Are you really so glossed over with your cup half-full that you don't see that?

Sorry, I simply do not see this as insurmountable. Y'all can slink back into the past and pity yourselves if you wish, but I'm going to keep looking ahead and expect the best from this team. I have no doubt the players and remaining coaches will rally around this situation and play their asses off.

"This" isn't. What the NFL has become under Roger Goodell is. I can see you either don't get that or you don't care. I care. It's just sad is what it is.

Seems like we're in the minority of people not freaking out. The punishments really aren't bad, I was personally expecting worse. As a I said in one of the other threads, losing Payton for a year stinks but we'll be fine with the players and coaches we currently have. Plus, how awesome will it be when Goodell has to hand us the Lombardi trophy in New Orleans at the end of the season. It will be the greatest awkward moment in the history of sports. Just the thought of him having to congratulate us in front of millions of viewers and hand us the trophy has me smiling. Don't worry Saints fans, things are going to be fine. Who Dat!

Conflict of interest.

How can you give the Saints the death penalty (or at least by my view, a pretty stiff penalty) and suspend the coach for the year, the GM for the important part of the year, then have the audacity to keep the Super Bowl in our gym?!

It's evident that the NFL wants to do what it can to shoot down the Saints for the 2012 season as punishment. Will I expect us to get fair treatment from the refs this season? Most definitely not. Goodell has quite a bit of David Stern in him.
