He was drafted in the 7th round and beat out the competition to become a starter for the rams, that means he's better than Shanle

And if people say "yeah he was a starter...on one of the worst teams in the league"

Remember this....the rams beat us in week 7

True, and Dwight Freeny, Reggie Wayne, Dallas Clark, Jeff Saturday and Robert Mathis are starters on THE worst team in the league.

... it's a good value signing, role-player with room to grow, can play special teams, 80 tackles ... Brian Urlacher had 86, Demarcus Ware - 48, Patrick Willis - 82, Ray Lewis - 77, Justin Durant had - 59 ... I don't want to get into a big debate over who's a MLB, who's an OLB, et... and how it affects their number of tackles. My point is, the guy can tackle and you get him relatively cheap. I only listed Justin Durant on there because I wouldn't have minded the Lions going after a F/A acquistion like Chamberlain.

Just sayin'.

The New Orleans Saints have signed free agent linebacker Chris Chamberlain to a three-year contract.

The 6-foot-1, 238-pound Chamberlain was originally picked by the St. Louis Rams in the seventh round (228th overall) of the 2008 draft. In four seasons in St. Louis, the former University of Tulsa standout appeared in 59 games with 19 starts. He had 112 tackles, 70 solo, two sacks, one interception, three passes defensed and one forced fumble, while contributing extensively on special teams with 73 stops.

His most active season was last year, starting 13 of the 16 games he appeared in at weakside linebacker and finishing fourth on the Rams with a career-high 84 tackles, 51 solo, two sacks, one interception, one pass defensed, one forced fumble and seven special teams stops.

This is one of those CYA signings. He may work out as a starter or may be a solid backup. Either way we needed him. Hardly any draft picks and we still don't know who the defensive players that are suspended. Depth is a must at this point. Now, make room and send a message to Goodell and sign brees to a long term contract.
