3rd round pick
Well, I guess we can start talking draft, which will probably be the most boring draft in Saints history. Being a draft lover I will still watch it frm start to finish. Now here is who I'd like to see in round 3.
1. Sean Spence LB, Miami 2. Travis Lewis LB, Oklahoma 3. Cliff Harris CB, Oregon In that order, I don't think Spence will probably be there but Lewis and Harris probably will. Throw some names out there. |

Not only does Cliff Harris have a lot of baggage, he did terrible at the combine. If he remains at corner and manages to get selected in the 3rd round, that would be like winning the powerball for him.

DT is the bigger need area at the moment than LB, but the Saints will undoubtedly pick the BPA once again.

If the Saints lose Dunbar I think MLB is a huge need. with Bunkley, Ellis, Johnson and Mitch King who I like. I think MLB is a bigger need depending on wheither Dunbar signs or not. I also think a speed rusher at DE is a bigger need.

Kendricks will never in a thousand years drop down to the 3rd round, and the Saints can't afford to package picks in order to move up, because they need each and every one of those picks to create some roster depth. It might be just me, but I don't see Bunkley, Ellis, Johnson, and King as a good enough interior lineman corps if the Saints have any desire of getting some push from the middle of that front 4. The Saints already have 5 DEs under contract and they can easily add f.e. Charleston if they so desire, and they can also add another from the draft if one should be available who Spags likes. But having only 4 DTs under contract doesn't give them much rotation at that position, and Johnson and King have very limited experience under their belt, which makes that line-up even more questionable. |

Sproles = No
Thomas = No Ingram = No Ivory = won't get nothing for him besides we need the depth in case of injuries |

Spence was THE guy I had circled as the one I wanted the Saints to pick before the bounty news broke. I knew that chance was over as soon as I heard that.. You just knew they were gonna take draft picks.
That said, I don't think there any impact players, as far as our positions of need go, after the second round. We'll probably see the Saints go after an athletic, project type of player like Jimmy Graham (Not saying there are any players with his potential, as he was a rare breed and a gift to this franchise, but hopefully you understand the analogy) and try to develop him into someone who can help us down the road. I have no clue who that player might would be, but I take comfort in knowing that the Saints have done their best work with their lower round picks and undrafted players. |
If I had a nickel for every time I heard that, the NFL would fine and suspend me.
