He just got a contract extension so I doubt he is going anywhere anytime soon.
Although it's interesting that, Payton and Williams got a massive year suspension, Loomis a half year, and Benson got a small slap-on-the-wrist fine. Guess which ones of those names, get to have an actual up-or-down vote on Goodell's contract?? That's right -- Benson and Loomis, not Payton and Williams. Goodell deliberately gave the weakest penalties to the ones who will affect his own future income, and the strongest penalties to the ones who effectively can't challenge him. Shows you what kind of man Goodell is (ie not very courageous), and really makes one realize how sordid this whole affair is. One has to wonder if the penalties on Payton would have been as severe, if Goodell had not had that contract extension back in January -- plus consider that he knew the Bountygate thing was coming down the pike and waited until after he got his extension, to act upon it. What a standup guy, sticking up righteously for player safety, only after his own wallet and job is protected. |

I believe the system is jacked up. He should not have that much power. Essentially he is police, judge, jury and supreme court. The owners need to create a "body" other than Goodell that would hear appeals. He'll be there as long as the owners keep voting for him.
