Nothing about Drew needs to be qualified by the contract situation. I find it somewhat amusing how hard core fans take business so personally.
In this scenario, everyone (except for Condon), is pretty much on the same page: get the best deal done that keeps Brees here until he retires. This may be his last contract, and frankly he and the Saints shared the risk on the last one. $60 million for 6 years for a potential HOF QB that wins your franchise its first ever SB is frankly chump change in NFL terms. There are probably safeties that are making more money. We still have about a month before any real damage occurs. Loomis is still in the building, thank goodness. Nicks got his big dollars. So I believe that Condon got what he wanted. The Saints still got to participate in free agency. So all that's left is to get to brass tacks and get the deal done. It'll be north of $20 million a year. The question is by how much, with how much guaranteed over what time frame. Think about what Brees has done for the city and the organization since he arrived. There is very little, especially anything about a contract, that will change my admiration for the man. So there's no need to qualify "He's still a great person." There's nothing to indicate that he is anything but. SFIAH |
Super Bowl Championships: New Orleans Saints:1, Carolina:0, Atlanta Chokers: STILL ZERO
Only Atlanta choked in an unchokable situation... Life is definitely good. |

this post was for the the posters who were attacking Drew over not accepting the contract, saying he was all talk, greedy, etc. Yes this is a business, but just wanted to show them its not all business. He still cares about the fans......Mostly a feel good story to try and keep spirits up about the contract mess.....
