Competition for Parcells?

Is this due to Parcells posibility of returning to a team or a way to try to keep him away from the Saints?

Report: Vikings making hard push for Bill Parcells
The New Orleans Saints are not the only franchise making a push for the services of Bill Parcells.

The Minnesota Vikings are reportedly after Parcells.

According to the New York Post, Vikings owner Zygi Wilf has been “putting the hard sell” on Parcells to “run the show” in Minnesota.

The Saints would like Parcells to fill in for coach Sean Payton while he is suspended by the NFL. Wilf wants Parcells in a more permanent role for his team that is coming off a 3-13 season. The Vikings recently promoted Rick Spielman into the general manager role, and Leslie Frazier is coming off his first full season.

Based on Parcells’ past, it seems unlikely he would want a permanent role. We’ll see what direction the situation heads with New Orleans. According to the Post, Wilf has told Parcells to “name his price” to oversee the football operation and serve as coach
Ultimately it is Parcells' decision....

ESPN 1500 Twin Cities confirms the Vikings did approach Bill Parcells, but it "didn't happen recently" and the sides are no longer talking.

NFL Network's Jason LaCanfora confirms Parcells to the Vikes "won't be happening." Owner Zygi Wilf has been a fan of the Big Tuna dating back to the dominant 1980s Giants squads, but the rebuilding Vikings have little appeal to a 71-year-old coach. The Saints are "still in the mix," confirms LaCanfora. The original New York Post report screams of a leverage ploy by Parcells to squeeze more money out of New Orleans.

That offer was made to Parcells a long time ago and a Viking source said there has been no contact with Parcells recently.

Story of non-story here ...

Parcells is only talking to us because Sean is his friend and they have stayed close. The Tuna was openly giving directional advice to Sean and was a sounding board before big games.
He may be willing to step in here because it is a classy organization that is well run. We have a solid FO and an excellent scouting department both pro and college. We also have some pretty good asst. coaches.
Besides a one year deal with a winning team might just be the thing for a bored retired fellow.
Oh yeah, and we could still win a Superbowl this year.

Keep dreaming Vikings fans, there is no way in the world Parcells would even consider going to a team that won't even sniff the playoff this year

I don't know about you folks but to me this type of weird, out-of-date rumor story floating around, only shows that people out there don't want us to get Parcells. Which makes me want him even more!
