Question for the Forum
I remember Kommisar Goodell, on the the day that the coaches penaltys were announced, saying basically, ALL head coaches were responsible for what was going on with their teams. Even if players themselves were having 'pay for performance' pools, the head coach should 'know' about it and eliminate them.
By that reasoning, is Goodell going to suspend coaches when players fail a drug test? Because he has said, the head coach should know what is going on with his team. |
Well, Ricky Williams retired so clearly all drug issues have been removed from the NFL.
|
I think Goddell is trying to apply corporate world overview to the NFL. Not a bad idea. But then the NFL itself then has to take a hit (pardon the pun) if they allow teams to continue in an "unethical" way over a period of time.
So if HC out is correct, then the RG out is also correct because it occured over a period o time under his "command" |
Failed drug tests, steroids, sexual harassment in the lockroom (favre), etc.
|
For that matter, if punishment is from the top down with zero regard for logic, the Goodell should suspend and fine himself for not putting a stop to the bounty program in 2009.
