Patriots' Ty Law arrested in Miami Beach
MIAMI BEACH, Fla. (AP) -- New England Patriots cornerback Ty Law was arrested after he allegedly led police on a brief foot chase.
Law was driving his 2004 Rolls-Royce early Saturday morning in the South Beach section of the city when an officer flagged him down for a lane violation, Miami Beach police said. The 30-year-old Pro Bowl player initially pulled over, but police said he sped off, prompting them to chase him about half a block until he stopped again. He then ran away from officers again but they caught up to him after a short chase. According to police, Law told the two officers ``not to touch him because he is a professional athlete.'' ADVERTISEMENT Law was charged with failure to obey a police officer and resisting an officer, both misdemeanors. ``He didn't want to go to jail and he didn't want the police to tell him what to do. And that was the problem,'' police spokesman Bobby Hernandez said Monday. ``He decided that he's above the law and he's not and that's why he was arrested,'' Hernandez said. Law was taken to the Miami-Dade County Jail after his arrest and released early Saturday morning on $1,500 bond. When reached at his home by The Associated Press, Law declined comment and referred calls to his attorney. Patriots spokesman Stacey James said the team was ``aware of the reports. We're going to work internally to gather more information.'' In December 2000, U.S. Customs officials found several Ecstasy pills in Law's bag after he was leaving Canada with two other players. Law said the drug belonged to his cousin, but paid a $700 administrative fine at the scene and was released. Last month, Law said he no longer wanted to play for the Patriots because of ``irreconcilable differences'' caused by a contract dispute. http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news;_yl...v=ap&type=lgns >> Maybe he will be cheaper! That Bilichick must be a terrible character evaluator. Maybe he\'s seen the error of his ways. Maybe this is the real reason for all the turmoil up in New England...or maybe not.

I do believe i questioned Law\'s character (through the espn interview) and said he would be a cancer and would not be worth it to trade for him.
Some questioned me, ,cough cough...Jimbone...cough cough, :P :P |

i remember the ecstacy thing, but it never got much press. while on the field, he\'d be a phenomenal pick up, but off the field in a city known for its hedonism, Law would be like a kid in a candystore and would not be worth the headache.

Two Super Bowl rings. And I seem to remember some turmoil involving the Patriots, Lawyer Milloy, and the ass-whiping they received from Buffalo in the first week of the season. Didn\'t seem to slow them down last season. |

What I\'m trying to do is what BAB? I bet you don\'t realy know why I posted that, but I\'ll tell you. The reason I posted that is because once upon a time one of the Saints players got himself into trouble and Whodat tried to indict Jim Haslett for it. I can dig up the post if required.
So, you tell me, what is it that you think I was trying to do? By the way, Did Billy B win a Superbowl in his first 4 years? What was HIS record after 4 years as a HC? There\'s a thread on this forum that provides those numbers...not saying they indicate beyond a shadow of a doubt that Haz will ever win a superbowl, but through 4 years he has a better record than the \"four words that make a difference\" guy. It took Bilichick 9 years to win two. After 4 years in the league Jim has a better regular season record and an identical playoff record. Go figure huh? |
C'mon Man...

...and regarding the \"stick\" comment, I\'d say I manage to do it in about the same way you do. [Edited on 19/4/2004 by saintfan] |
