B&G MUDBUGS III April 21st

My swamphouse, near Old River TX. PM me if you've never hung out
with us (the Hou-Dats/ Houston Chapter of WhoDat Nation) --and you'd like to come. You know, I'm not that far from Lafayette, as we've left Houston, and moved an hour closer to Louisiana.

We need a headcount by next tuesday the 17th.
I believe Budsdrinker has our crawfish supplier nailed down. Jump in John & give us some details.

We need to know who can kick in $$ for the mudbugs. I'll throw a good chunk in myself & have a paypal account. Also, would love to have the crazy assortment of food we had at the Reliant Tailgate last season. Everyone can do a little something, and we'll have more than we need just like every time we get together.

Kids are welcome-- we have em, We got a big yard, park next door, and we'll have plenty for them to do. Plus there will be other kids, so they always have fun. Of course, you can bring them little brain sucker things they carry around.

Also Lets rock the Black and Gold, WhoDats!

I'd love big Saints flags again, and Saints Tents, and Saints stuff everywhere. I have a big balcony you can hang stuff off of. I'll have the sound system playing the Saints tunes. (are we the only team in sports to have its own genre of music?)

Will do the need list next. Tell me what else you want???

(note: guys, please hold the "i cant make it/wish i could be there" posts, in order to keep the thread as tight as possible-- thanks for understanding.)

gulfgambler 04-11-2012 08:47 PM

I'm all in Mike. lemme know what you need..............maybe we can celebrate a Drew signing...........

Budsdrinker 04-11-2012 08:49 PM

Once we get a head count I can order as many sacks as we need. Right now I only have 2 on order. I figure about 4 lbs per person. Some of us eat more some eat less.
Would like to know by Monday at the latest on a head count. Don't worry Mike, I have flags and Big blowup Bubba to put in your yard.

RaginCajun83 04-11-2012 09:06 PM

2 for sure, I eat crawfish 5-6 lbs but Tiffany can't stand them so hopefully you will have something for those that don't like them or I'll just pick her up something on the way

RaginCajun83 04-11-2012 09:11 PM

I have a Who Dat Nation flag I can bring since the wife won't let me fly it around the house apparently to her the house might get burned down if the "locals" in the neighborhood saw me making fun of the American flag ... got to love the Humble/New Caney area

Marlboro Man 04-12-2012 01:06 AM

Dang, I won't be down till the 24th.

UK_WhoDat 04-12-2012 06:05 AM

Man. I gotta find a way to get to one of these one day.

HouYat 04-12-2012 07:51 AM

We're in and I'll bring all my boiling stuff. We did 2 sacks the last 2 years, so unless you get a huge response in the next few days, we might not need more than that. Just let me know what time you want to start & we'll be there.

Im actually getting responses on facebook, plus ive invited some family, etc. But I sure will keep you updated & thank you for boiling for us. I plan to be up all day and Saturday night until I pass out. I'll be up with the sun, but you come, whenever you feel like getting up. John, jump in here also, what time do you think we should start boiling? I wouldnt care if we just had snacks & stuff and boiled later in the day.

Just found the Reliant Tailgate Thread, and got a good "need" list from it. Here are things we need:
1. tables
2. chairs
3. ice chests !!!
4. chips/dips
5. beer
6. soda
7. water
8. paper towels, plastic utensils, reddd soooloo cups
9. kickin a little cash for crawfish -- dont know what our price/lb is
yet, but it shouldnt be much, should be painless, & I dont mind
handling a good chunk myself.

Also, How about:
1. more Saints Flags and decorative stuff (cant wait to see this)
remember, I have a balcony!
2. TENTS! yes tents. Im putting mine up--- Yard does have
considerable shade, but in the evening, I think we're gonna want
it.... yard faces west. Besides, I'd like the Tailgate Party
Effect.
3. any dessert you want to bring
4. any other eats you want to bring, very much appreciated.
-- we had boudin balls at the Tailgate
-- I have a friend who may fry fish
-- popeyes anyone? (some of your guests dont do crawfish)

ok... lets do like we did for the Tailgate, and you just tell me what you want to bring/do...

--- [B]As for directions, you're going to be off I-10 between Beaumont & Baytown-- I'll send you details.... basically, when you hear this music, you're close.

skymike 04-13-2012 02:01 PM

we're looking at 2.15- 2.20 / pound.

HouYat 04-13-2012 03:43 PM

Is that the price you're expecting to pay per lb? Just an FYI, but HEB is selling them for 1.99this weekend. Should be no more than that next weekend, possibly even a little less.

skymike 04-13-2012 04:12 PM

My worry there would be supply. I dont know if HEB will reserve for us.
Johns supplier would, I believe be able to commit for us, so there'd be no scrambling around. Also, Rob (KAJUN KOOKIN) has a backup supplier for us. We can talk about it, no prob.

'bout what time are we looking at? One kid may have a conflict, and Drew has a rehearsal that was suddenly added and he's going to see about getting out if it, but we're trying to schedule around these things, so let us know a time range and we can run with that. :)

Specail Guest... Hmm I'm guessing Pope Ed, the old Saints player you met or Bobby Hebert, any would be welcomed

Still working on head count from family but I had planned on bringing a case of beer and soda for everyone to enjoy besides on who might of signed up. Let me contact Laf and see if I can get a king cake shipped here

HouYat 04-13-2012 09:17 PM

RCA, Pope Ed is a given.... I have a good guess, but in case I'm right, I don't want to ruin Mike's surprise. I'll just wait for it like everybody else.

RaginCajun83 04-13-2012 09:36 PM

So mom and Gordon are coming too but that might be it, so 3 eat crawfish 1 doesn't. Sorry Mike but grandparents can't make it

Saint_LB 04-14-2012 05:33 AM

I wish I could be there with you guys, but maybe someday if it moves a little more to the east. Keep in mind, however, that if you guys run out of 'bugs there are plenty more in my front yard. :)

SmashMouth 04-14-2012 01:00 PM

Count us in for three!

This ought to do ...

SmashMouth 04-16-2012 09:35 AM

Btw... does MudBugs III require more bandwith?

skymike 04-16-2012 10:46 AM

mudbugs requires no bandwith.
there's no ap for it.
you cant follow it on twitter

mudbugs can only be done in the real world.

Budsdrinker 04-16-2012 11:10 AM

Do we have a final head count yet?

RaginCajun83 04-16-2012 11:16 AM

4 for us but only 3 eat crawfish

willdownload 04-16-2012 12:32 PM

I'll kick in some cash for the crawfish (will mail it). Don't want to commit to more in case our AAU schedule precludes our attendance. If we are able to make it....there is no telling what time of day.

QBREES9 04-16-2012 01:32 PM

See now is why i wish i was single and had some money.

RaginCajun83 04-16-2012 01:48 PM

Group dessert covered - Meche's Doughnut's King Cake (half chocolate/half Bavarian cream)

skymike 04-16-2012 03:02 PM

Buds, I'll have you a headcount by 5.

skymike 04-16-2012 04:36 PM

--again, guys, please withold "i wish i could make it/i'm gonna have to try someday" posts to keep this thread nice and tight.

So this is last call for anyone else who wants to come.

PM'ing you the headcount now.

This is just the people who are eating crawfish. (I know, its hard to believe some people dont eat crawfish)

Wow, we're missing about 10 regulars and this is still bigger than I thought it would be. Apparently we've grown even more.

skymike 04-18-2012 07:04 PM

I wont call this a crisis, because I know everyone will step in, but I am a bit nervous about the cost of the bugs. We're going to go over and get about $350 worth to cover the unexpectedly large
headcount we have. I think its a good problem to have, and couldnt be happier.

If everyone would throw in about 8 bucks per adult (dont worry about kids --- mine will be the only big eaters, I think.) we'd be good. I'll pick up the slack.

help me out?

gulfgambler 04-18-2012 07:41 PM

hey Mike, haven't been receiving the link. Coming w/ flags, canopy, cooker, propane, chairs etc. What else needed? Swamp dust, potatoes, sausage, corn, mushrooms, garlic, lemons, onions?????????

HouYat 04-19-2012 07:14 AM

gulfgambler, we're all for volunteers, so we'll take you up on your offer. Budsdrinker & I will be picking up the crawfish, so if you wouldn't mind, please pick up enough seasonings to do 4 sacks. And when everyone comes through with the contributions, we can all settle things up later. Let me know if you're in for this.

Mike, thanks for the donation request....things were starting to get a little pricey with the crowd you're expecting. We have only done 2 sacks before, so this will be new territory for us. Please PM us your address so that we don't get lost (that might happen anyway). Looking forward to a great time with all the HouDats on Saturday!

RaginCajun83 04-19-2012 11:31 AM

Mike, what time you want us coming over?

HouYat and I plan on convoying to Mike's for 1:30 and we'll have the crawfish.

HouYat 04-19-2012 12:43 PM

still need to hear from gg about the crab boil & seasonings, potatoes, corn etc. Crawfish won't be too good without the other stuff.

lynwood 04-19-2012 12:47 PM

Mike Thanks for the Invite but we are heading to Louisiana today to be with my Dad. He's getting some really bad news tomorrow and we are going to be there with him.

You guys party it up like we are going to the Superbowl!!

skymike 04-19-2012 01:02 PM

see update page 5

Beastmode 04-19-2012 01:32 PM

SM, everything will work out. I envy you guys. My neighbor in PA said he found some ditches with crawfish and wants me to show him how to catch em'! Haaaahaaa!!! There no way I'm eating PA crawfish. Probably some deviant species that victimizes their young uns'.
