If Loomis sours Drew on NO or worse yet, looses Drew, he needs to be run out of town on a rail!

I'm willing to bet that it's settled by Sunday. Drew needs to be there Monday since Payton starts his suspension and he can't participate without signing a contract or tag. He can still sign the tag by Sunday and work out a long term contract by July.

so let's say Drew waits it out...would his eventually signed contract be pro-rated? If he waits 5 weeks, a tenth of the year, could we save 10%??

Maybe the league is messing with the Saints.

If they know they are going to suspend Vilma for the year, and that money would be used to get Brees signed, then delaying that suspension would hurt the Saints further.

In my opinion this is exactly what is happening right now, although I believe it's not the league that's doing it - I think it's Brees and his agent. My prediction is that Brees will NOT sign anything until the suspensions have been handed down and the defense has been set, including the draft, perhaps even the whole roster going into training camp...so that every nickle of remaining money in the salary cap pot that the team has, will go into to his contract.

I don't like it any more than anybody else, but I think Brees is in no hurry here, and I'm not really sweating it if a deal does not get done soon.
