New Orleans Saints linebacker David Hawthorne's deal is salary cap friendly
The contract numbers for New Orleans Saints free agent linebacker David Hawthorne have finally hit the NFL books.
Hawthorne signed a five-year, $19 million deal, which included a $3.8 million signing bonus. The deal is very cap friendly this season. Hawthorne will earn a $700,000 base salary in 2012, giving him a salary cap figure of only $1.46 million. In 2013, Hawthorne is scheduled to earn a $3 million roster bonus and a $1 million base salary. In 2014, he'll earn a $1 million base salary and $1 million roster bonus. In 2015, he'll earn a $2 million base salary and $2.5 million roster bonus. In 2016, he's scheduled to earn a $4 million base salary. As of noon Friday, the Saints were approximately $420,000 under the salary cap.
