Broncos cornerback Andre’ Goodman. Depth?
Broncos release starting cornerback Andre
Three weeks after trading their starting quarterback, the Broncos have dumped one of their starting cornerbacks. The team has announced that veteran corner Andre’ Goodman has been released. Goodman started every game in 2011, eight in 2010, and all 16 in 2009, his first year with the team. The 33-year-old defender also has played for the Lions and Dolphins. Goodman, who was due to earn a base salary of $4.62 million in 2012, instantly becomes a free agent. His spot in the starting lineup presumably will be filled by newcomer Tracy Porter, assuming that Porter isn’t suspended for his role in the three-year bounty program in New Orleans. |

I don't know anything about him, but the age is a red flag for me right off the bat...

Dunno........ Then again, I would like to see a young guy that can contribute on special teams. Not many 33 yo dudes not named Fred McAfee can play well on special teams. |

We need a little more depth but I think we will choose young CB's on the late round of the draft and off practice squads, jabari and pat Robinson should perform well in spags system, johnny Patrick will take the nickel spot, we need about 3 more CB's for depth though

Somewhat injury prone, gives you a big play now & again and likes to hit. Given the Saints' need at the cornerback position, might be a good temporary fix for depth until something better comes along.
It's been said corners get better with age, IDK, but he's never really played on a good team. Putting him on a team like the Saints with a chance of winning every week might rejuvinate him a bit & you wind up with a 'Champ Bailey' type corner ... might be a little far-fetched, but I think if you put this guy on a decent team, he responds well. |
