Saints rework Vilma's contract...
April 20, 2012 5:55 p.m. - by Larry Holder
The Saints recently restructured LB Jonathan Vilma's contract, according to a league source. The restructuring details weren't immediately known, but Vilma's salary cap figure was going to be around $7.5 million in 2012. Vilma's reworked deal makes sense considering the Saints' offseason signing of LB Curtis Lofton, who may be Vilma's replacement. Vilma's production has decreased because of lingering knee injuries. so how much cap room does that save us this year?
|
I'm guessing back-up money. Sign and trade for picks would be nice, don't know what we could get, possible 5th or 6th.
|
If Vilma restructured his contract to stay then I think we should let him stay.......unless he is suspended for an awfully long time. He may accept a lesser role because he wants to be in the rotation for a Superbowl contender and that sir is what we are.

That's good to here since he's coming off a injury plague year and he's going to miss sometime this year

Freeing up money to get Brees contract done?
|
I think the Vilma and Greer contracts are to make more cap space for Drew...
