Jay Glazer (@JayGlazer) just tweeted;
Just got an email from Mickey Loomis: "This report on ESPN is absolutely false. I have a monitor in front of me in my booth that provides the league issued stats for the game. I have a small tv with the network broadcast and I have an earpiece to listen to the WWL-AM radio (flagship broadcaster) game broadcast. To think I am sitting in there listening and actually and or doing something with the offensive and defensive play calls of the opposing teams makes this story and the unnamed sources that provided the false information that much more less credible…it just didn’t happen." |

This is going to add to the time that Brees holds out on a new contract. And if, God forbid, this turns out to be true, we can all kiss Brees' ass goodby. He will sit out this season, and demand to be traded next year. I hope like hell I'm wrong.

Well if my memory serves me right we were not good in those years, now I don't remember Loomis and co. hoisting any trophys or winning any titles, point being listening would have given us an edge and quite a few more wins I would think. My opionion is the more they start crap the more negitive things Benson hears and probably doesn't like it. I truely think Loomis and Payton have turned us into a powerhouse the NFL never wanted {small market} and are trying to get Loomis and Payton fired. Thats the only thing I can come up with.

It's weird though. Why would someone make this type of story up -- and give exact detail though? It has to make you think.

I haven't stopped my television on NFLN OR ESPN since the whole bountygate thing started...same for radio. I've stopped dropping by and contributing to the NFC South blog on ESPN.COM - in part because I was flaming them so bad they banned me. Still...
If this is false, and it sure looks like it is, the Saints as an organization should start holding the NFL and ESPN responsible. The NFL for leaking the bountygate crap (which they still have yet to provide any real evidence) to the media, one trickle at a time, to their "trusted" sources. ESPN for willingly broadcasting this crap. Call them morally corrupt. Call them a disgrace to journalism. Call them tabloid media. Whatever, just do it in a very public way. Call press conferences. Grant interviews to non-sports media like Rolling Stone or Playboy or GQ or whatever. Participate with the NFL's chosen media sources only as much as is contractually required and not a single word more...not a single minute more. This is out of control and maybe, just maybe, our beloved Saints are in a position to call them all to the carpet. Let's embarrass John Clayton, Ashley Fox, Pat Yasinskas and the rest in as public a way as is possible. Call them out BY NAME! Let's hold the producers of outside the lines to the fire, and if legal action is an option, lets take it to it's fullest extent. |
