DONE with ESPN - join me?

I've had it ESPN - today was the absolute LAST straw.

Mickey Loomis had a presser this AM and ESPN did not bother to report anything on it until Pat Pukeinsky bother to throw up some retread "journalism" after 5 PM today. At least the NFL website was civil enough to post something on Mickey denying the stupid wiretapping/eavesdropping/BS.

It is 1000% clear that ESPN is willing to fall on the sword over this crap and have already decided it is the gospel truth before it has even been investigated.

I'm done boys. I have always watched ESPN for draft coverage and highlights (although I admit I have been splitting time in recent years on the NFL Network), probably more out of habit than anything else.

I WILL NOT visit their website or watch their crapping channels any time I can avoid it.

No more of their stale worn out personalities, and especially no more of their piss poor reporting.

Will you join me?

Rugby Saint II 04-26-2012 08:04 PM

They came after us and were the ones to draw first blood........I'm with you. Screw 'em! Who Dat!

|Mitch| 04-26-2012 08:14 PM

I've never been much of a ESPN fan, dislike Mike Mayock equally but I'm suffering through it

arsaint 04-26-2012 08:23 PM

Mayock is a bit of a tool, but he beats:

1) I'll throw another drink back back back Berman
2) Eddie Munster (aka Mel Kiper Jr)
3) Tom "I hate the Saints" Jackson
4) Chris "I've got false insider info" Snortensen

foreverfan 04-26-2012 08:39 PM

5) Forever "Turn the Freaking TV Off" Fan!

QBREES9 04-26-2012 11:06 PM

Been done with them the day The NFL N went on the air. NESN, for Red Sox. Speed for NASCAR, don't really care at all for Basketball. Hockey they do have a network but don't have it.

The Mothership needs to be shot down.

breesfan27 04-26-2012 11:09 PM

I hate ESPN. Between all the false "Breaking News" stories and Skip Bayless' permanent hard on for Tebow, I've officially moved to NFL Network for all my football news. At least I get football 24/7 there. It's better that way.

QBREES9 04-26-2012 11:17 PM

Sing it sister !!!!

Saintlyone 04-27-2012 05:57 AM

Have always hated ESPN and this kind of stuff is why. I only tuned in briefly to hear them boo goodell then turned it off.

sharke 04-27-2012 06:59 AM

done w/ all espn sans Beadle....mmmmmmmmmm Beadle....

Ashley 04-27-2012 07:30 AM

Pretty much done with all media, but espn is the worst

TheOak 04-27-2012 07:59 AM

Yup!

I almost removed my fb app yesterday because they were scrolling the latest ESPN news.

I don't even have facebook. That's on online soap opera ....

hagan714 04-27-2012 11:20 AM

been on this band wagon for a few years now. ESPN = ET in the sports world

CheramieIII 04-27-2012 11:50 AM

Im with ya

Beastmode 04-27-2012 11:51 AM

ESPN was great in the 80's and 90's when they actually reported on sports. Since then they've turned into the FOX network of sports, always ambulance chasing dirt and controversy. Most of their opinions are flimsly with little to no facts or research involved. And "sources" is not reporting. Either get the facts straight with names or don't report it. This is the main reason I stopped watching it. They want to give you the dirt but if it's false they don't want the dirt on them.

Belair57 04-27-2012 09:50 PM

when dan patrick treated joe horn like **** for the cell phone thing...I was done then, and they can kiss my ass

NOLA54 04-27-2012 10:35 PM

ESPN is phony sports. They just read what is put in front of them. Kinda of like Faux news (fox).

QBREES9 04-27-2012 10:56 PM

Shoot down the Mothership !

Saintswrath 04-28-2012 06:44 AM

ESPN don't talk enough NFL for me to even watch it in the first place.

pumpkindriver 04-29-2012 11:43 PM

I'm with ya, ESPN is the MSNBC of sports journalism. I rarely watch TV period and espn is just a lot of fluff these days, no substance.

skymike 04-30-2012 07:39 AM

I hate that stupid show where they try to tackle "social issues," blah blah blah blah blah blah.... with that chipmunk looking guy.

Im really actually tired of all shows where guys sit around and TALK about
sports.

just show me the damn game. and dont try to be funny... i dont need all the lame silliness. They spend more time trying to be funny and edgy and cool, than they spend telling you the story of the game. When they finish, I still dont know anything about the game.

Anybody remember when Howard Cosell did his halftime thing on Monday Night Football, where he'd run thru highlights of Sunday's games? That was the best thing ever! Was Howard Cosell "cool?" Not at all. Was he funny? No, and he didnt need to be. In fact, Cosell was an A-hole, and probably some kind of communist. But that dude could TELL A STORY.
Thats what I want. Football sells itself.

Just show me the game. The game sells itself. The game is what its all about. Tell me the story of the Game.

Bucs' fans equally hate ESPN as much y'all do.

BTW, the Joe Horn thing was hilarious. That's coming from a rival fan, and plenty of other Buc/Falcon fans share my sentiment.

ESPN is junk and has been for years.

One person comes to mind when I think of ESPN as a joke: Woody Paige.

95shakinpf 04-30-2012 11:39 AM

ESPN sux! Im IN!! or...OFF! NFL Network or my phone app Blessyouboys from WWL has all the Saints news I need. Screw ESPN!
If Loomis decides not to sue these CLOWNS, i hope they get whats coming to em somehow!

WHODAT GUNA TWODAT!!

Man I remember that. It was halftime that I stayed up for when I was a kid...and during those highlights, I'd position my bean bag and grab my nurff, toss it in the air, catch it and land on the bean bag. That was awesome!

SaintPauly 04-30-2012 03:42 PM

I call it FESPN....... I'm sure you all know what the F stands for..... I'm in for sure....

My brother was too. I was Earl Campbell. I was the youngest so that didn't work out too well for me.

SmashMouth 04-30-2012 10:09 PM

So how can we get them kicked off the air?

Yeah. My mom was single and dating back then, so my great grandmother - who would let me get away with just about anything - let me stay up late. I can't tell you how many times my ball landed in the fish tank. She'd just get it out and dry it off and off I'd go again. Those were the good 'ol days for sure. Circus catches with me playing the part of the QB, the WR AND the announcer. lol

He drops back to pass

OH! What great catch!

Down inside the 10! First and Goal!

|Mitch| 04-30-2012 10:51 PM

I was always the defense when I played as a kid, toss the nerf football on the couch or floor, scream "It's a fumble!" and go diving after it... Lost count at the number of times I caught a butt whipping for jumping on the couch lol

SF, you and me are twins separated at birth. My mom was a pro rodeo rider, so she was always gone. This left me with Grandma, who had pancakes, pizza, fig newtons bought just for me, and no rules.

I watched anything that involved a football-- it could be Visible Changes U vs. Diesel Driving Academy-- and I'd have it on the tv with my Grandma's blessing.* She had a huge living room with green carpet (turf), and these big flourescent uplights at the side of the ceiling-- which looked pretty stadiumish. Of course, it was the Astrodome. I was Pastorini, and Ken Borrough, and the entire defense. Sometimes I went NCAA-- especially on saturdays, with a fully cranked up band in the stands. I'd be running going "DAHN DAHN--- DAH DAAAAAH!" (cliff nobles, The Horse)

Somehow, couches figured into any play that involved acrobatics. Yes, I was also the announcer, who went crazy at my amazing clutch last second catches. What had to be most interesting was the running plays, where I'd take the snap, as QB, hand off, and morph into the runner all in the same motion. I can still do this.

But it gets better. Then I would run to daylight, if I had any, until an imaginary defender pulled me down. Somehow I knew when I had a small gain, or a long OJ Simpson style (Earl hadnt came along yet) jaunt. Sometimes I even got slammed in the backfield. Dont even start me talking about my defense.

I've actually lost a number of my own imaginary games. Afterward, I, the head coach, would answer media questions... They didnt have that interrogation session you see now, with team logo sponsored background, back then. I spoke from the locker room, assuring reporters we would do better next week.

I won back to back Super Bowls for the Oilers, and yes, there were parades. except the parade came immediately after the game. (pre-empting 60 Minutes-- even as a kid I knew 60 Minutes was total BS)

When friends came along during the day, the big game moved outside into the cow pasture, or the BARN. Thats a whole other story.

Is this normal?

* here's how cool my grandma was. She always sewed my last name on my football jerseys-- about 5 years before anyone else did it with those ironed on letters. Grandma STICHED mine.

whoops! unthreadjack: ESPN is terrible. Lets change the channel.

sharke 05-01-2012 07:09 AM

Holy crap we had green carpet too! And oh yeah, PRCA dude! :airguitar: I'll never forget the first time I met Don Gay. I'm like...you know...THAT Guy? Really? THAT GUY? Little 'ol bitty dude...could ride the **** outta a bull...then I learned why it is that so many bull riders are little 'ol bitty dudes. LOL

i have already put the brakes on there channel last year, i was up to my neck in skip bayless stupidness. the network really trys to outdo the world. enough

RaginCajun83 05-01-2012 10:34 AM

I've been ESPN free for about a month now since they decided that hockey is the black plague of sports (and NO the 3 minutes of the Mullet King doesn't count). I can't stand basketball and with the Astros already out of contention, not much for me till training camp.

RaginCajun83 05-01-2012 10:38 AM

Speaking of grandmothers: oh man my late Maw Maw loved her Saints and the NFL, she used to have one of those yellow legal pads filled with scores, stats, standing of the league you name it, she might of had it written down. It was like each week she would get the paper and start a new page to -update her stuff ..... I just know she was smiling down on 2/7/10

neugey 05-01-2012 11:11 AM

Been trying to ween myself off ESPN website. cnnsi.com has a similar layout, been trying to use that

FromMNtoLASt 05-01-2012 12:29 PM

I've been done with E(verything)S(tupid)P(reproted)N(ews) ever since they decided to go on a witch hunt against our beloved boys in Black and Gold ...
