Looks like Curtis Lofton is THE MAN now!

Was expecting something like this, we gotta move on now.

Are there any more suspensions coming down?

Hopefully not, the worst case scenario i envisioned was us losing half our defense, the players that have been suspended we have already signed replacements for

I don't like the legnth of the penalties and am a huge Vilma fan, but IMO this is a big win for the Saints. I was expecting many players to be suspended. Most folks were prepared to lose Vilma. This board was calling for him to be cut to clear space. Lofton is possibly an upgrade. So basically we lose Smith for 5 games. That's a huge win. I was bracing to lose way more than this. We have a soft 1st 5 games. This is best case scenario IMO.

To be honest, I think out of all the people punished so far, GW and Vilma are guilty as sin, the rest are collateral damage. The punishment of SP is absurd and even Joe Vitt is somewhat questionable in its severity.
It sucks Will Smith and Scott Fujita can dragged into the player punishments somehow as well. I think the Saints felt the same way though, hence firing GW and getting 2 new ILBs in Free Agency. Given the preparation the team should be fine...and if anyone says Scott Shanle should step up and lead the defense, I will internet-find you and internet-slap you in the face.

You want my address, we can do it in real-life LOL... Shanle has been here and has the respect of the lockerroom, he could step up and fill the leadership role.
