NFL attorney: Hargrove was told to lie

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; We may never know the truth here it is obvious that the man lied to save his own skin ultimately. What would you do if your boss had you in a corner and you desperately needed that job to survive ...

We may never know the truth here it is obvious that the man lied to save his own skin ultimately. What would you do if your boss had you in a corner and you desperately needed that job to survive and not see your family in ruins ? These are powerful men that can destroy you and your way of life. The only ones that wouldn't submit are those that have nothing to lose.

Well I am absolutely no more clear about anything. It is as clear as mud.

Did he, did he not, then did he lie, did he not lie. If he didn't (get involved ina bounty scheme), what was he lying about?

Well look, I do love the guy and his back story, but I kinda remember that Hargrove was always kind of a loose nut and a bit of a head case anyway when he was here...the thing that sticks out to me about this, is that, if Hargrove was instructed to lie, and he did, then obviously this is a guy who will say pretty much anything to save his own skin, and sign pretty much anything you put in front of him. If as they allege he participated in the bounty program, and willingly lied about it when told to, plus he has this history of drug problems that we were told was caused by the rough crowd he was running with, hence his redemption.....and he lied and denied that at the time....then we know that Anthony Hargrove can be coerced into doing pretty much whatever, including signing an affadavit saying whatever the league wants him to say. It's obvious that the league honed in on him in particular because of his past history; the league was picking on the weakest bird in the flock on this one.

Maybe he signed this as a plea bargain to get 8 games instead of 16. I can hear the questioning on the witness stand now:

Defense Attorney: "Mr. Hargrove, isn't it true you were offered a reduced suspension of 8 games from 16 for your testimony in this afidavit?"

Hargrove: "Yes, but..."

Defense Attorney: "No further questions your honor."

Hargrove: "But..."

Judge: "You may step down now Mr. Hargrove."
