I'm not feeling this; the Giants kept him around on IR for what two years with his injury. Just to release him without he ever seeing the field, gotta be a reason?
Maybe he didn't recover as well as they hoped? |

He's still not recovered or something of that nature, this is not the same as them dropping a key component of the D, because Jones hasn't seen any playing time in two years.

I was checking his status a few weeks ago. He's fortunate he survived and even more fortunate he can walk. I think he has hit a wall in his recovery. Maybe he can switch to baseball.

He is lucky he still has his leg. The Giants Dr. said most injuries like his end up with amputation of the limb. He also said the leg is lacking in sensory and muscle and doubts he will ever be able to play football again.

"He has made a remarkable recovery to date. However, at this time he has residual sensory loss, muscle weakness, and tenuous soft tissue coverage in the involved lower leg. The resultant functional impairment precludes his ability to perform physically at the level required for professional football."
This quote is what did it for me. I can appreciate the guys drive to return to the game but after a year and still has those issues.... New York Giants cut safety Chad Jones, who nearly lost leg in accident - ESPN New York |
