Proper tackling technique is for me to put my face mask between the RB's numbers. The head, the legs, the arms all move in any direction to throw a d-player off... The numbers change direction with the ball... The RB's first move as I close in is to drop his shoulder pads and try to bull through me... This action puts his helmet coming directly for my helmet. At 6'+ not many defensive people are getting under Sproles... Rice... My options are... aim lower for his crotch with my face mask... (not happenin). This would angle my facemask down and he would make contact with the crown of my helmet breaking my neck. Let him run his helmet through my sternum. Again.... if you have ever had a pulling guard flank you... you know you do not want this either. I went to a smaller school where I played both sides of the ball... Ive broken ribs on people who didn't see me pulling. |
