Brees overestimating his worth

Brees overestimating his worth - NFL News | FOX Sports on MSN

:To me, Brees is a product of the Saints’ remarkable offensive system, one designed by Payton to utilize his quick-strike strengths, his ability to roll out and his mind to remember every detail of the offense. Yes, he shattered Dan Marino’s single-season passing record with 5,476 yards in 2011, but I can’t honestly say that Brees is a better quarterback than Marino, whose physical skills and quick release put him on a different level. Brees could beat Marino in a foot race, but that’s about it."

On the open market, Brees wouldn’t command the same bidding war as a Tom Brady, an Eli Manning or an Aaron Rodgers. Remarkably, even a physically scarred Peyton Manning was in demand by multiple teams this offseason because of his “stature” as a proven quarterback.

Are you effing kidding me?!

I stopped reading after that nugget of insight...

He's more than a system QB. Brees was the real deal in College as well. You can have the greatest system in the world, but if you don't have someone with mad skills to run it, you got nothing but a system.

... yeah, and who were those 'multiple' teams where Manning was in such a demand? Denver, Miami? ... it's not like 30 teams were out there in a bidding war ... I disagree with comparisons between Manning & Brees and I don't think there's a team out there that would take a Manning over Brees ... I'd have to think a little more on the Brees/Marino issue ... both great QBs and up until now, I would have put them both basically on the same level ... the top.

This is silly. He's 6'0" and he played the game much bigger. All the schemes in the world don't make your brain work faster than it can naturally. His works for the scheme. If anything, he's worth more because too many qb's couldn't process our complicated packages and audibles. Think of a gunslinger like Tebow in our system. No way. He makes it work. He throws the TD's. He's the one. Pay him. And shoot Condon.

So Peyton can run any system? Well I read an article yesterday that said Denver's coaches watched ALOT of Indy game footage to see what their system was. They did it so when they went after signing him, they were prepared for what he liked to do... It will be a little different, but Manning's gonna have a hand in creating his offense in Denver. Basically, I'm saying its a load of crap.

Brees v Marino. Both GREAT QBs. Marino is better in some regards, Brees better in others.

This guy is just an East Coast biased nugget head. We know what time it is.

I didn't bother to read the link, but I am reasonably certain the writer didn't mention that Brees beat Manning in the Super Bowl AND that Manning commited the only turnover in that game that also won the game for the Saints!
