Saints linebacker Jonathan Vilma's federal libel and slander lawsuit against NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has been assigned to Judge Ginger Berrigan. Berrigan, a Clinton appointee, has served on the bench in the Eastern District Court of Louisiana since her confirmation in 1994.
As of court closing Friday, there does not appear to have been any motion filed yet by the NFL in response to the lawsuit. The lawsuit is targeted directly at RG, not the NFL. They are not even mentioned in the lawsuit. Why would they file a motion? |

This is pure speculation BTW. Personally I would want them to hang him out to dry. |

They certainly won't hang him out to dry but my question is can they even file a motion on his behalf? It seems like he would have to file it and bring his NFL posse along for the ride.

Cool... but please don't try and taint the process by reaching out to Judge Berrigan in her class, not that she would allow it anyway. We don't want anything to affect the advantageous venue in Louisiana.

Be careful what we wish for..... Vengeance aside.
Vilma wins, isn't healthy enough to start the season, or is healthy enough to start the season but plays at the same level he has for the last 2 seasons... Vilma cap space never freed-up... Drew sits out because he cant be paid. "We cut off our nose to spite our face." |
