Most of the talk about the Saints draft is on the defensive signings. I think we all remember just how bad our run defense was last year. But, our receivers had a horrible year also. Not one of our receivers went over a 1,000 yards last year. That's almost unheard of in todays pass happy NFL. Hell, even some rookies come in and have 1,000 yard seasons.
I was a little miffed about signing a WR in the second round, considering how badly we needed defensive help. But, after looking back at the play of our wide receivers, I completely understand the signing of Devery Henderson. Henderson is the type of receiver that Haslett and co. covet -- FAST -- REAL FAST -- One of the reasons our pass offense struggled was the recurring injuries to Donte' Stallworth. If Donte's injuries continue, Henderson can step right in and there won't be much drop off, if any. I think McCarthy has the final peices of the puzzle to his offense now. Boo Williams provides the type of TE who can stretch the field. Mike Karney is a punishing blocker who, ulike Terelle Smith, provides a receiving threat out of the back field. And, we have 3 receivers who are a threat anywhere on the field. And 2 of 'em have "world class" speed. Oh, yeah, and Joe Horn, well, he ain't bad either. There were a lot of cornerbacks taken in the NFC South, looks like they're going to need 'em!! |

I remember his pro-day. Everyone was talking like he just slid into the 1st round. I think he and Hall are the fastest players in the 2004 draft. How can any team cover Stallworth (4.2) and Henderson (4.2)? And oh yeah, you gonna put your nickel back on Joe Horn? And cover Deuce with a LB? And cover Boo Also?
McCarthy is the ONLY person capable of stopping this offense. He is now my only concern on the offensive side of the ball. |

Just barely but i think our O-line is above average as well, that should fit in well with the rest of the offense.
