Zone Defense
I was reading this article on Spag's defense New Orleans Saints defense, Spagnuolo are in the "zone" and the author was focused on the passing side of it with basically each defender being responsible for a certain section of the field in a passing situation. How does this type of defense work in a draw, screen, running, or short passing play?

We'll have tez on the outside with his 4.4 forty that will take away the run to the left. Short zones by the linebackers to cover the middle for any short pass or even run for that matter. We need a speedster at LE I don't think Jordan is fast enough

Gallete & Romeus are both faster than Jordan so in those situations I expect to see one of them on the left side.

I like galette and don't know much about Romeus except that he is a gigantic human being. With that kind of size and good speed I really wanna see what he can do. Galette has promised a 10 sack or better season so hopefully he'll get his chance. I've been anxious to see tez since we got him I think he will destroy opposing lines and tire them out with his speed. I'm almost giddy with excitement haha

Fine. As long as the corners don't play 20 yards deep. Maybe with these new additions we'll start tackling now.

Sorry but the Saints playing a zone defense, scares the HELL out of me. I don't believe we have the players for it. Everytime we drop into a zone defense we give up HUGE chunks of yardage. We haven't been able to play a decent zone D since Mora was here.

You teach them the zone and play off that. One person errors and it's not drastic. In man to man, one person errors and it's six. The Saints will still bring plenty of heat.
