this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; I was planing on worse case senerio for the Saints... and bam it happened but I didn\'t figure Smith falling to 18. But somehow I think Saints inc. felt it would happen or was prepared as I was for something ...

Now when Howard goes down in week 3 with another injury, we won\'t skip a beat. |

Will Smith may end up being a fine player. We all know we have issues in at LB. My point is that a guy like Wilfork, available with no maneuvering, makes the LB\'s job that much easier. If everyone thinks Smith was the BPA then so be it. My feelings are from a OVERALL need stand point Wilfork would have been a more solid pick. Also, I felt the 2nd pick could have been better utilized by selecting a different position. Maybe Horn is leaving? Stallworth has been hampered with injury. Gardner has many personal issues but was never alowed to show his stuff on the field. I think Pathon is way under utilized, giving the illusion of being an average receiver. I realize Henderson is fast. So is Lewis, but I seem to remember a fumbling issue. Our third pick was a great needs picks. The third round will just be glossed over......... :casstet: And FB was a good pick.....probably the best pick to be made at that point in the draft.

Saintfan - I think Howard will be fierce this season. I\'m ready. Optimism? Sure, if you say so - I just think the guy is an animal when healthy. This is the year that he\'ll stay healthy. That doesn\'t necessarily mean we\'ll be a good team. |
