I do agree with you Rugby, but I'm still willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, because if my memory serves me right, he did have a pretty good 2010 season - nothing stellar, but his best one with the Saints. Also, it just might be that the coaches he has worked under - primarily Gibbs and GW - haven't been able to extract 100% out of him, but maybe he'll be able to surpass his previous seasons under Spags. Who knows, and it certainly is alarming if it is just a matter of him not having had the required effort under the previous DCs, but if it is more because of the DT schemes - which could be the case since all DTs have pretty much sucked during this time period - then there might be a light at the end of the tunnel for Ellis. Anyway, I'm still hopeful, and I'm still pulling for him to make an impact, but the fact that he is being payed as much as he is, is a concern because that cap space could be used in a more meaningful way - Brees being the obvious choice. |
