this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; Robert Meachem was a role player (not star) His role in the offense was very similar to Henderson's Role players are replaceable, especially when they want more money...

Don't think he'll ever be a star, but the guy made plays. Hopefully one of the newer guys will step up.

If Morgan turned out to be a replica of Meachem, that's a huge win for us (especially value-wise).

Why is everyone hating on Meachem? To be frank, if it hadn't been for Meachem's ball-stripping touchdown (and also his last-minute touchdown in the 4th quarter) against the Redskins in 2009 we would have been playing the NFC Championship game in Minnesota that year.
And Meachem had 10 total touchdowns in '09 and if it weren't for his excellent burst downfield, defenses could have doubled Colston at will. |

Just to clear this stat up a bit, 2008 is when Coston was out and Moore became the number 1 receiver. I liked Meachem but he's not worth the money the Chargers paid him. You need to be willing to go over the middle to comand that kind of money in my book.
