Few people have had a worse year than Gregg Williams. The embattled former Saints defensive coordinator has been run over by more buses than a New Orleans pothole in the past six months.
Saints players are coming to the defense of former defensive coordinator Gregg Williams. First, it was Vernon Davis and the 49ers. Then it was Roger Goodell. Then the media and even some of his former colleagues dived on the dog pile. Williams' name has been sullied, his reputation tarnished and his career cast into serious jeopardy in the wake of his alleged orchestration of a bounty/pay-for-performance program. But there's one place he remains beloved: the Saints' locker room. To a man, his former players rushed to defend the honor and name of their former coach, who was suspended indefinitely by Goodell. "People are going to say I'm wrong for saying this, but he's good for this league," linebacker Scott Shanle said. Shanle is not alone in his sentiment. In fact, every defender I spoke with this week about Williams not only defended him, but went out of their way to profess their respect and admiration for the fiery coach. read more |

Right ? Wrong? Or Whatever ? The Saints would not have won in 2009 without Williams.

... yeah, but how many friends does he have outside of that locker room? Would y'all want him back if Goodell decided he could coach in the league again & Spags wasn't there? Strictly a hypothetical question ... IDK, the guy threw the organization under the bus & sang like a canary in order to save his own ass, nothing about the whole mess bothers me more ... he helped you win a SuperBowl, great, but if he was walking through my neighborhood, he'd still need a bodyguard ... just sayin' and it probably ain't my place, I just hate MF'ers like that ... I would buy one of those t-shirts though, .
