Thumbs up Chase enjoys thrill in Brees' absence

Sooner or later, the Drew Brees-New Orleans Saints contract impasse will end.

The most likely outcome is a lavish deal that keeps the star quarterback in the fold for years to come. But while both camps can then claim victory for negotiating the terms most favorable to their respective sides, there will be no debate about who was the biggest winner from this lengthy haggling.

Chase Daniel.

Any way you slice it, this is valuable time for a backup.

Still don't think he could win us 8 games.

Exclamation

If we had to rely totally on Chase, then I agree. But if the Saints effectively ran the ball to take the pressure off of him, then I believe the Saints could finish 10-6 or 12-4.

How do you know? Has Chase ever played entire (regular season) ((NFL)) game?

I think we've built a very solid team around Brees. I think we're more talented than the Falcons even without Brees.

We could win 9 to 10 games easily with Daniel, assuming he'd be at least mediocre as an NFL starting QB. Just based on what I've seen, and with him being in our system for 3 years I'd say he was similar to an Alex Smith, Colt McCoy, Matt Ryan, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Mark Sanchez, Kevin Kolb.

Don't sell the other 52 players short. This team has a very good O-line and excellent skill players. Even our Bobby Joe's from the Ditka era could win 8 games with these guys and Chase is much better than they were, IMO.

Lets just hope we don't find out this season.

Do you seriously think with the team we have, with Chase being the QB we would look at a 2-14 season?

We run the ball taking pressure off him, rely more on the screen game and Graham and 8+ games won is possible.

And if the defense is anything more improved than last year, then it's all the more easier...

I don't think we will do any better than 8-8 if that. Hell we may only do that even if we have Brees.

I never said we'd lose 14 games with him. But 8? More than likely. QB is the most important position in our offense. Remove Brees for an entire season and the chances we lose multiple games increases.

Drew Brees has bad several games when defenses scheme well against him. Chase would be much easier to contain - yes he's more mobile than Brees, but less accurate, slower to react, less experienced not the same leader.

We can have all the weapons in the world, but without Brees, they just won't be as productive.
