Manning draft saga started decades ago with bumbling Saints
Bob West column for Wednesday, April 28 Archie Manning, as an NFL quarterback, was the poster boy for what can happen to a great football player stuck in an inept organization. The second player selected in the 1971 draft, he paid a severe price for being indentured to the New Orleans Saints. In a town where witchcraft and voodoo have deep roots, Manning was cursed by management that ranked with the worst in professional sports. Consequently, he spent a good part of his nine years in the Big Easy running for his life on teams seriously short of talent, especially in the offensive line. want more? click here: http://www.panews.com/articles/2004/...rts/news01.txt |

Doesnt a QB make a team better? Isnt that why he\'s paid so much money? So then AB isnt a bad QB, it\'s everyone else\'s fault. I see, I completely understand Archie Manning is a good player because everyone else on his team sucked so much worse than him, he just looked good.
Michael Vick could have no one on his line and he\'d still make the Falcons better. Because that\'s what a truly great or good person does. If you start making excuses because of this and that about team mates, then you can argue for anyone in the league. Just think if Deuce had a QB that could hold on to the ball and make d-fences respect him more. Football is a team sport and to place all of the blame on team mates is one thing, but to say he was great because of all his stats is something else. It\'s kind of like when a team is getting blown out and the other team thats laying the smack down, just lets the other team run for 20 yrds. a carry, does that make the RB worth a damn? Archie was just a face in a bad time period for this franchise, he gave everyone a little glimpse of hope, nothing more. If he was really all what yall claim him to be, wouldnt he have been traded or wouldnt he have left for another team. Seems like alot more teams would be after someone with his talents and ability. Better bring a better argument than that, because thats just pathetic mr. moderator. Archie Manning couldnt carry AB\'s jock strap and you know how I feel about him. |
