DUI may have impacted new Dolphin Will Poole's fall in draft

Dolphins cornerback Will Poole's fall from possible first-round pick to the fourth-round of the draft last month may have been impacted by him pleading guilty to driving under the influence of alcohol in February in California.

According to two NFL sources, Poole was arrested in February for the violation. He quickly pleaded guilty to the charge. Both the NFL and the Dolphins are aware of the situation, although Poole isn't subject to any punishment from the league or the team because the incident happened before he was drafted.

However, Poole, who earlier in his college career was suspended for stealing at Boston College, paid a significant price in terms of a possible contract. Dropping from the first round to the fourth likely cost Poole millions of dollars in an initial contract.

Poole, who was in New York and is unable to attend the Dolphins quarterback school because of NFL labor rules, could not be reached for comment. Agent Drew Rosenhaus declined to comment on the situation.
