Playing 2-Man (2-deep, man-under with “trail” technique) in a two-minute situation is a smart call when you are trying to take away inside breaking routes. Coach up your underneath defenders to sit hard to the inside and use the safety help over the top. However, offenses will scheme (with personnel and alignment) to target the middle of the field vs. the 2-deep shell.
Today, let’s go back to the NFC Divisional Playoffs. Saints at 49ers. Drew Brees to TE Jimmy Graham vs. the 2-Man. Check out the replay and then we will get into some coaching points. Playbook: Breaking down Graham vs. '2-Man' | National Football Post |
