Pete Prisco on the Saints
It seems so rare a thing when a national writer actually writes about the Saints. So I thought I'd share what I found on sportsline.com. Whether this is b.s. or not, at least we can get a feel for what the Saints have in mind for Will Smith:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Around the league At their recent rookie camp, the Saints staff came away raving about defensive end Will Smith, their first-round pick, and defensive tackle Rodney Leslie, taken in the fifth round. Smith was working on the right side behind veteran Darren Howard but could see work on the left behind Charles Grant. He gives the team four good ends, counting Willie Whitehead. As for Leslie, he may prove to be a major steal. His impressive first weekend should help light a fire under second-year tackle Jonathan Sullivan, who showed some bad habits his first season. Leslie and veteran Brian Young are both effort players the Saints feel will help push some of their younger guys. Add in veteran Kenny Smith, and the Saints have the looks of a good eight-man rotation. and..... We held the second annual Gridiron Guru League Fantasy draft in New York Tuesday. Yeah, it's a little early, but it also was a fun start to the 2004 season. As the defending champion, I had the first pick again and went with Priest Holmes, who was my first choice last year. This time, I like my team even better. Four players will key my draft: Colts tight end Dallas Clark (watch how good he is), one of two backs ( Willis McGahee or Chris Brown) and Saints receiver Donte' Stallworth, a player who will put up huge numbers this year. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Take it for what it is. I'm just glad there's any news from dem writers. If y'all get to go to practices or pre-season games, please post, since i live in DC and am cut-off. Thank God for Directv's NFL Sunday package. |

That is good to hear - I hope they\'re right. I mean, optimistic, pessimistic, realistic, whatever... I can\'t remember a year when this wasn\'t reported:
\"At their recent rookie camp, the Saints staff came away raving about [INSERT NAME HERE].\" That\'s standard for the Saints. I\'m happy about it, and about what Prisco said about Stallworth, but let\'s not forget who we\'re talking about here. |
