Mike,

First off, let me thank you for all of your insight into the saints. It's really tuff for a Saint fan to hear the latest news in "Forty-Whiner" country. Next, I have to ask... Do you see the saints making any acquisitions after the june 1st cuts?? How about at cornerback?? I'm sure Ty Law is probably out of the question, but how about Mckenzie from Green Bay??

Is there anybody really the saints are "targeting", or are they set to do battle with the squad they have allready??

Thanx again Mike,

Thanks,, B&G 4 Forever, I appreciate the nice comments.

No doubt if the Saints make a move after June 1 it will be for a cornerback. I am always concerned about depth, especially at such a critical spot like cornerback. If something happens to Fred Thomas or Jason Craft, this team has some real problems at the cornerback position. I really think they will have match-up problems, even if they stay healthy if they don't add another quality cover-man.

I agree with you about Ty Law, because I just can't see the Patriots dealing him off, but I am not so sure about Mike McKenzie.

A few weeks back I wrote that the G.B. Packers had given permission to his agent to shop him around, for the right price, but no team was willing to give up the "asked price" ( it was a #1 pick) for him. I was told the Saints were one of the teams contacted about McKenzie's services.

McKenzie has changed agent again and that complicates matters, but I just have a feeling that as training camp gets near the Packers just may try and see what the market brings, especially if McKenzie holds true to his words that he will never play for Green Bay again.

Cornerbacks, especially ones that are as good as McKenzie don't come available often, so I wouldn't close the door on that possibility.

The Packers used a couple of their early round picks, Ahmad Carroll and Joey Thomas on cornerbacks, so they must feel as though this will be a very sticky issue.
There are some issues to be resolved on the McKenzie-front, but that option still in my opinion is open. For the right price, (say a 2nd round pick and a reserve D-lineman), it could be worked out.

If the Saints make a move after June 1st, it has to be at the cornerback position and who knows maybe there is something brewing "cornerback" wise that will come around during the summer. Again, I am concerned about the depth and the lack of quality depth at such a critical spot.

To be honest, I don't see any moves, with the exception of adding a cornerback after June 1. What they have now is what they are going to work with.
Take Care..
