Is it all just a ploy to create a distraction?

this is a discussion within the Saints Community Forum; The more I’ve been thinking about it,the more suspicious I’ve become that maybe Brees contract situation is just a ploy to distract people from the so called “bounty” scandal. I know the past couple of weeks I’ve heard practically nothing ...

We know its in both sides best interest to sign a long term deal so why wait until last minute unless their trying to build suspense in an attempt to change the subject?

Just a theory...

Someone mentioned that if he signs, he cant talk with SP? Maybe that has some truth to it too. Who really knows anyway what the real deal is anyway

I welcome the silence on "bounties"..

I also think that Drew and Sean have talked so much in the past that they read each others minds... Brees knows Sean's game plan, because its Brees gameplan and was built around him. I am also not sure that I believe that Brees would think talking to Sean on the dance floor in the Bahamas is as valuable as being at camp with the team.

I think everyone is just tired as hell of the whole "bounty" thing. It will flair back up when they start playing and the BS flags start flying.

"I’ve heard practically nothing about the “bounty” scandal."

That's because there never WAS a "bounty" scandal to begin with.

Kommisar Goodell and the league knew that their media lap-dogs wouldn't do any investigating on their own and would just regurgitate whatever the league said the Saints did.

As the bad guys on all the 'Scooby Doo' cartoons said every time after being caught, "... and I would have gotten away with it too, if it hadn't been for you meddling kids, (insert Saints players)!"

Goodell and the league thought that the players would just go quietly into the night like GW & SP, and not challenge the league and make them prove the allegations.

There are only 4 active players involved, and truth be told, pretty much all four are fairly inconsequential at this point in their careers.

The Saints have pretty much replaced Vilma already with Lofton, the Saints have proven they can succeed without Will Smith for a 4 game stretch.

I could see Goodell lifting the punishment on Hargrove since the league said they had video of him confirming the bounty on Favre, and then had to admit it wasn't him.

Fujita, I really don't give a fat rat's a$$ about his suspension, only because he isn't on the Saints anymore, pretty much the same with Hargrove.

"A Veteran is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America" for an amount of "up to and including my life."
