it's my understanding that there are provisions in the deal that can relieve cap room and salary. the guaranteed money aside, much of the contract is performance based (particularly in the end). yes, it's a big hit but not crippling.

completely unrelated note and I know its arbitrary but really impressed that Drew ended his comments with "now I need to go earn it". awesome to finally see an athlete make that statement.

I know right. Can't we just be happy in the moment? This sure beats the hell out of having to hear about Bounties and all the doomsday predictions on Brees.

What draft? we aint got no stinking draft, at least not next year.

I applaud Brees for getting what he wants. We should hold our breaths to see if we get what WE want, which is another SB win.

We gained quite a bit of salary cap room from this deal with Drew so don't worry about Jimmy... We'll take care of him. I know it doesn't make sense that we'll be paying Drew so much money this season and we actually GAINED cap space but that's why "In Loomis We Trust!" The dude's a freaking genius GM.
