This Better Be A Great Year
...Because next year will be much diferent - CAP wise.
It's great that Drew got paid. He deserves it. But it has consequences. Quote from Mike Tripplet's win-win story: "This year, the combined cap figures of Brees, Jahri Evans, Ben Grubbs, Marques Colston, Lance Moore, Will Smith, Brodrick Bunkley, Jonathan Vilma, Curtis Lofton and David Hawthorne is scheduled to be $37.1 million. Next year, those 10 players are scheduled to account for a combined cap figure of $85.4 million." The team cap is 120 and maybe 130 next year. We better have a pretty good season. |
There won't be a next year. The world ends 12/21/12.

I don't know anything about the cap at all. What i have heard on the NFL radio. Is Drew sign will help next year.

Loomis will spin his web of magic again next year, and the year after, and then he and Drew will probably renegotiate. Relax everybody. Loomie is cap royalty. Nobody does it better, and few even come close.

Like I believed with the Brees signing, this is not a big issue until 3 years from now. If Brees performs well I am sure he will want to play until he's 40, and work with the Saints to reduce the cap hit for an added 2 year contract. It is in his own interests for fielding a decent team around him. Fans should probably shelve any cap problems regarding Brees till 2015. Then we'll see were we stand. |
Where's the list of salary caps that will come off the books next year.
What players will be forced to renegotiate due to excessive 2013 cap hits. I'm sure there are quite a few mediocre players who are scheduled to count a lot more against the cap than their talent warrants. Some will be cut, some will restructure, some will sign new long term cap friendly deals. Way too many things can happen to get worried now. |

Well we can save money by cutting Will Smith. And there is the distinct possibility that Vilma won't be back.

Just be happy that every team is still terrified of facing the Saints. Personally I can't wait for this year and the next year and the year after that. This is a new Saints organization, we won't back down and we wont take a step back. Mickey will continue to work his magic and we will have no worries until Brees wants to retire. Great now everyone is going to cry about his replacement, I apologize now for the threads created about our next QB :\ |
