"L.A is primed for a revival"- Los Angeles looking hard for a team. It's weird, but I actually feel better if I read how the Saints aren't going to go anywhere by one of you guys (even if it's just here-say/gut feelings). So please, reassure me, if the Saints leave, and I know this sounds sad, but my life would be ruined. I live for Saints football, allllllllllllllllllllllllllllll year long. Thx. |

The State of Louisiana has already said they intend to honor the original agreement. The only thing that might need to be changed is the \'timing\' of the payments. Of course the media is going to play this for EVERYTHING it\'s worth. That\'s their job. I wouldn\'t get too worked up about it. It\'s troubling, yeah. But, it\'s being overblown, IMHO. Honestly, the best encouragement anyone could probably give you on this is that there are at least two maybe three small market teams in a position similar to or worse than the Saints. Minnesota is always a target to be moved as is San Diego. I don\'t know what the state of Arizona\'s stadium is at this point but if they can\'t work anything out there, then the Cardinals could be packing.
Tom Benson has had long relationship with New Orleans and Louisiana. Red McCombs, for instance, doesn\'t have a similar lengthy history with Minnesota, which may allow him to move or sell to someone who wold move more easily. |

Good point ScottyRo.
Another one is Colts\' owner Jim Irsay. He\'s said he\'s not sure what he\'s going to do if he can\'t work out a deal of his liking with Indianapolis. The Peyton Manning deal was a big one. He might need to move to a larger market. [Edited on 26/5/2004 by GumboBC] |

The State of Louisiana intends to honor its financial obligations to the Saints but the timing of the payment and where the funds will come from may need to be restructured, according to a representative of the Superdome who was in a meeting between club officials and Governor Blanco Friday afternoon. The meeting was being held in a downtown New Orleans office and included Saints owner Tom Benson, Vice-President of Administration Arnold Fielkow along with Blanco, Doug Thornton of the Superdome Management Group and Tim Coulon of the LSED. State officials requested the meeting after they said there wasn’t enough money from the hotel-motel tax to pay the $15 million owed the team from a deal worked out in 2001. Thornton told media members that although the state does want to re-work the deal, it isn’t looking to change the financial terms. Thornton added that the shortfall may be just over $7 million as opposed to the much-talked-about $12 million figure. According to Thornton, new sources of revenue need to be found to help make the payments, which balloon to as much as $23.4 million by 2009. He said a $1.5 million payment to the Hornets would be made. |

Yes Billy I read that. Believe it or not, that\'s not the only article on the subject. Point is, they want to restructure and they don\'t have the money. Like I said, until the Saint get the money in hand or the 75 day grace period expires, nothing is a done deal.

Hey, man, I don\'t know what the hell is going to happen. I think Blanco has done a terrible job of handling this situation. There\'s a spot for the Saints over here on the gulf coast if they need to move. Not that I want them to, but I\'d rather see \'em here rather than some where else. |
