Preseason Power Rankings No. 9: New Orleans Saints
You wouldn’t think a team that’s won 37 games the last three years, a team that just signed its franchise quarterback to a record-setting deal, a team that set so many records would be this low.
But this has been no ordinary offseason for the New Orleans Saints. Preseason Power Rankings No. 9: New Orleans Saints | ProFootballTalk |

I woulda liked to have seen who was ranked ahead...did I miss that?
#9...#1...#31...pick a number. It is one of the things that makes the NFL so entertaining...you just never know. If the Saints ended up carrying home the Lombardi, I would not be surprised. If they ended dead last in the conference, that would not surprise me, either. One thing I can assure you. By the end of January, we will have a much clearer picture...that is, assuming we get past 12/12/12. |

I don't really care where anyone else ranks them. And I can see how someone might rank them much lower than 9th. With the kind of offseason they had this year it's impossible to tell how the players will handle it or whether the offense will operate as smoothly as it has in the past. Will members of the organization, at any level, "buck" the interim coaching staff to try to get recognized? Will any player feel slighted or treated unfairly by someone they think "isn't the real coach" And there are a hundred more questions just like those.
Just my opinion but this is the type of thing that shows which writers or analysts actually do a good job. Most of these rankings simply post last years results with a wrinkle here or there just to make it seem like they know something. Personally, I think the "us vs. them" attitude the team will have will compensate for the hiccups they will experience due to the change in leadership. I think they win the division going away. And the Saints fan in me says they'll be the first team to win the Superbowl in their own stadium. Just my opinion. That and a $5.00 will get you a cup of coffee at Starbucks. |
