"Up in New York, they know how I feel," Benson tells USA TODAY Sports
METAIRIE, La. – Step one foot inside the New Orleans Saints indoor practice facility, and you cannot miss the larger-than-life impression.
Sean Payton, suspended coach and in-house martyr, grimacing during a game with an intense stare the players know too well. He looms over the field on a 30-foot-by-30-foot banner. At the bottom of the image are the words Payton uttered to his team in April before starting the year-long ban imposed by Commissioner Roger Goodell as punishment for the bounty scandal. Do your job. "It is a little bit creepy," Saints wide receiver Lance Moore says. "I feel like he is looking right at me." That's the point. Saints owner Tom Benson came up with the idea, hoping Payton's presence would serve as a motivational reminder with the coach prohibited from virtually all contact. "A Veteran is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America" for an amount of "up to and including my life."

I love how Benson grew a pair! That was awesome on his part to do that. Just shows that he wants us to win just as much as we and the players do!

"You're never going to be able to block out what all has gone on here," linebacker Scott Shanle says. "But the best thing that has happened was that we got back on the football field. And when you're out there running plays, trying to learn a new defense, you're not worried about anything else."

Benson isn't afraid of anybody at his age. He is a powerful man in the NFL(and the entire Gulf coast region) and he will still be powerful long after Godhell is forced to resign in disgrace.
Benson uses his power for the people.......I know it sounds cliche but since Katrina Benson has changed. Besides, he originally bought the Saints so that they wouldn't be moved from New Orleans. |
