concern for joe horn...........
rumors continue about the possible trading of joe horn.
again i stress this is a real concern for me. let's analyze this for a moment........ i believe joe is 32yrs old. correct me if i'm wrong. he is coming off a really banged up yr in which he showed he had the heart to compete hurt and still be a playmaker. he is the only proven playmaker i can honestly say we have consistently on the wr corps. A team in need of such a playmaker, may be willing to part with a #1 for him giving us 2 # one's and 2 # two's in 2005, in which case the front office would really take a good look at and probably give a green light to go ahead and do the deal. it's a long way til the start of the regular games and many things will happen to many teams that some may say is bad luck........... but we won't go there........ however, the saints thinking may be on these lines............let's see what horns value is and see if anyone is really interested. they may think, and have the right to, that they are well equipped on the wr side of the ball to justify this............. now, on the flip side we have haz who may be gone at the end of the season short of a superbowl appearance who needs all the help he can get. dispite run-ins with horn, he knows the saints need him, and probably would go to bat for him, but again, if the deal was sweet, he may not have enough clout to do anything about it. my main concern is, rumors come from somewhere and for the most, they have some truth to em, especially when you start to hear em from the high sources....... we need horn this yr, bottom line............and i do have concerns about what will happen. your thoughts.........please................swamee |

concern for joe horn...........
No way I want to see Horn go. Sure, he had a down year last season, but he has enough pride to want to improve and show his detractors that he is not finished as a starting wide receiver. Horn, barring injury, will have a 1100 yard/ 13 TD season (at least) next year. Mark my words.
However, if a team was delusional enough to give us a round one pick for Horn, I\'d jump faster than Donte could pull a hamstring. Honestly, I think that the best we could get for Joe would be a fourth or fifth... maybe. Nothing against Horn, but he is old, and round one picks don\'t grow on trees. What did Philly end up giving for Owens? A fifth and a no name player? As much as I dispise TO, he is better than Joe. .02 |

concern for joe horn...........
What happened was a coach said commenting on the quality of WR\'s we had and the progression of Donte and eluded to \"we could\" It was taken out of context is what happened and later Haslett and Benson both said they will not trade him. No one in there right mind would trade a number one for a 32/33 year old veteran WR.

concern for joe horn...........
There is no good reason to trade Joe Horn this year.
1. He will not get us a 1st or 2nd round pick 2. We need him this year as this is a do-or-die year for this coaching staff. 3. He is costing us only $700,000. THIS IS IMPORTANT. He is cheap to us this year. A player of his caliber for $700k.... how do you get rid of that deal? So it makes no sense to get rid of him this year. The NFL is a business first and foremost. He may be gone next year though due to contract. |
