WWL TV reported today that FETCH MONSTER, the tee retrieving pooch once employed by the Saints, has died from cancer. :(
BLUE MONDAY: Bleu, the tee-retrieving Australian Shepherd known professionally as Fetch Monster, died Monday at her home in Spring, Texas, her owners, Mike and Melna Moriarity, said. She was 10. Fetch Monster retrieved kicking tees at Saints games for three seasons from 1997 to 1999. Before that, she worked Houston Oilers games at the Astrodome. She was diagnosed with cancer in mid-May and underwent chemotherapy and three blood transfusions in an effort to stave off the disease. She suffered a setback over the weekend and was put down Monday. "We loved New Orleans," Melna Moriarity said. "The Saints were so good to her. She loved New Orleans." RIP Fetch Monster, at least he served a purpose, and well too.
Gumbo is the most ridiculous mascot, but then again, what are we going to have, a fleur de lis with eyes and a mouth!!! |
